The Rational Intervention for KCNQ2 Epileptic Encephalopathy (RIKEE) patient database is a collaboration by scientists and doctors to grow understanding and introduce effective treatment for epilepsy and developmental impairments caused by deficiency in KCNQ2.
The database is housed at the Cooper Lab at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Strict privacy measures to protect patients are required of the researchers. Patients’ parents must contact Dr. Cooper’s team at Baylor to initiate the registration process. The lab will then contact parents directly to gain consent and collect information.
